Editorial

As an editorial and magazine photographer I shoot for all types of magazines including Sunday supplements, national consumer magazines, trade publications and corporate magazines. From Manchester to Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Hull and across the North of England, I will shoot on location. Editorial photoshoots come in all shapes and sizes and I often arrive at a previously unseen location, not knowing what the subject looks like, what they have in their wardrobe or how relaxed they will be in front of camera but it’s all part of the challenge. Every magazine has their own style and each feature has its own feel.

When I first started out, I used to find this daunting but now relish the challenge of thinking on my feet, picking out the right clothes, finding quirky last minute locations and relaxing the sitter in order to get the best out of them and fulfil the magazine’s brief. I find myself in so many different locations. A tiny house, an enormous mansion, on the beach, in the park, at a local cafe, in an office or a factory. Each editorial or magazine photoshoot is new and inspiring. Every story I shoot features someone new, meeting them and learning about their life, which is the best part of the job.
